Controlled Deer Hunts

In 2024, the Cherokee Nation will host its 4th annual Controlled Deer Hunts at the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah Hunting Preserve in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.

As in previous years, participants for this year's program will be chosen through a random draw, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants. The hunts aim to promote conservation efforts and preserve the cultural tradition of hunting within the Cherokee Nation.

The controlled hunts are not subject to any residency requirement and applications are open to all Cherokee Nation citizens.

Cherokee Nation citizens can apply by using the Gadugi Portal at https://gadugiportal.cherokee.org/.

Applications will be accepted until September 6, 2024, at 5:00 PM CST. Applicants selected for the 2024 Controlled Hunt will be contacted by the Cherokee Nation Wildlife Conservation Department by September 11, 2024.
